As promised here is the inexpensive Father's Day gift I created. I designed this for Cricut Mini Albums Design Team Challenge. It was supposed to be posted on Friday but I think Rena must be super busy. So in order to get it out there before Father's Day, I am going ahead and posting it. I used DCWV Cardstock Stack Brights, Mickey and Friends Cricut Cartridge and Design Studio to create this mini album. I designed everything with Design Studio so I can't provide you with cut sies but if you would like the Design Studio Cut file I used just email me and I will send it to you.
I started by cutting the front and back of the album from a used Silk container. My daughter drinks soy milk so we buy the double packs and they come in these great card board carrying cases. I like to use every day junk to create somthing new and beautiful - you'll see this a lot in my projects. The back cut has the "fire" for the bomb but the front cut as well as the pages are only the "bomb" shape. You can find this shape on page 98 of the Cricut Mickey and Friend Cartridge. I just glued two pieces of cardstock together to create the inside pages - since I didn't use card board gluing them together made them sturdier.
On the right page I used some mosaic tiles I've been hoarding for forever! I don't know what I was thinking when I bought them, yes I do. I thought they were cute but had no plans for them. Glad I finally got to use some! On the right page I just did a photo mat with some faux stitching and doodling.
The page on the left has a hidden journaling tag. I hate my handwriting. Miss Clarice from "Steel Magnolia's" would say I have the handwriting of a serial killer. But I think hand journaling is so important to pass on to my daughter so I do it even though I hate my handwriting, I just hide it away so it's not a focal point on my pages. The right page features a layered star that I cut from Mickey and Friends.
These 4 pages are just photo mats and journaling. I free hand cut the shapes using leftover paper. This entire album only used 5 pieces of 12x12 cardstock with some leftover! Those leftovers went into my scraps folder and I'm sure you will see them again in the future!
This is the back of the album. I hope you enjoyed looking at this mini album. Be sure to check out Cricut Mini Albums for more Father's Day Albums created by the Design Team members. Remember, if you want to create a mini album like this for the dad in your life, just email me and I'll send you the Design Studio cut file. Happy Scrapping everyone!
