A New Challenge!

Card Cupids is hosting a new weekly challenge that was posted yesterday. The winner (selected by random draw) is going to receive 7 Digital Stamps from Bugaboo Stamps! If you haven't tried Digital Stamps I highly recommend them because they are so much fun! I was a little intimidated by them when I first tried them but now I'm totally in love! I use Copic's to color my stamps but you can use anything, Sharpies, colored pencils, you can even break into your kid's art supplies! The options are endless! This is the card I created for this challenge. The little birdie is a Bugaboo Digital Stamp:

It needs a little something extra but I haven't decided what. Any suggestions?

Mini Magnet Board

This is another GreenBean (GreenBean's Crafterole) inspired creation. I just love this project! The magnet board came as a thin sheet of 5"x7" metal. Used paper from a BasicGrey "Green at Heart" 6"x6" pad. Once I had the paper adhered, I rounded the corners with my Corner Chomper. I punched two holes in the top with my Big Bite tied some ribbon and viola! A mini magnet board was born! Thanks to GreenBean for this idea and for a wonderful package of goodies she sent me!

My First Tag

I've never made a tag like this before. I have long admired them but I have always been too intimidated to ever try. Well, I finally worked up the nerve to try it. My friend Lindy sent me some Tim Holtz tags for Christmas so this is what I did with one of them:

First I inked the background with Distress Ink (Vintage Photo), then I used my 7 Gypsy's "Venice" stamp set (the Marvelo{us} and jOURney stamps are from Stampin' Up). For the 7 Gypsy's stamped images I used Stampin' Up ink (Really Rust, Dusty Durango and Mellow Moss) and for the Stampin' Up images I used Distress Ink (Vintage Photo). After I stamped everything I spritzed on some Studio Callico Mister Huey's Color Mist (Classic Calico). The key is from my stash and has been patiently waiting to be used for literally YEARS! So there you have it, my first attempt at a tag. I have no idea what I'm going to do with it now though. I think I might put it on a card for my husband - what do you think I should do with it? What do you do with your tags like this?

Remember that Gift Card?

So I have to give credit where credit is due and BIG credit is due to my buddy GreenBean at GreenBean's Crafterole for this idea. When I saw it I knew I wanted to make one.

So here is the gift card before (sorry for the lousy picture):
I used my Corner Chomper to round the corners. Then I used some paint I had and painted the front and back of the card:
I cut white cardstock to fit behind the cover and used the Corner Chomper to round the corners. Then I decorated the front using My Mind's Eye "Alphabet Soup" paper and chipboard element and Echo Park "Everybody Loves Christmas" mini alphas:

I used my Crop-a-Dile to punch holes through the card and cardstock (I don't own a Bind-it-All or Cinch so I got creative) then I used Bind-it-All O-Wires to bind the book. You can bet I will be saving my used gift cards from now on - these make the cutest little note books!

A Valentine's Card

Hello everyone! I hope you are all having a great day - I'm still trying to figure out what to do. I have so much going on both in my creative world and out. I think I need to sit down and make a list of what to do and when but frankly that just seems over whelming. Eh, in the words of Scarlett O'Hara "I'll think about it tomorrow". For now, I just want to share a Valentine's Day card with you. I totally have Valentine's Day on the brain - I just need to translate all of those thoughts into action!

I created this card using Core'dinations cardstock (pink), We R Memory Keepers "Be My Valentine" paper and a Cuttlebug embossing folder (swirls - no it's not one of my new ones but I was dying to make something and this was before my goodies arrived). I hope you like this card come back tomorrow to see what happened to that giftcard I told you about yesterday!

FINALLY! They're Here!

I know, I know! Where have I been?! I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately, I'm not intentionally snubbing you, I promise. You know I love every single one of my blog friends. The problem is, I got a wonderful giftcard for Christmas. You're probably saying "That doesn't sound like much of a problem, Jade". Well, the giftcard wasn't the problem, it was the S L O W shipping that resulted as a use of the giftcard. I placed an order for some fabulous new things and I didn't want to create anything until I got my hot little hands on my new stuff. Well, FINALLY my stuff has arrived! Want to see what I got?

I'm so stoked! I would never, ever, EVER buy this many Copics at one time (I'm far to cheap for that) but I finally convinced myself (it took awhile, believe me) that giftcards are meant to be used on things you would not normally buy for yourself. So, I bought 16 new Copics (2 of the colors in the picture I already owned) and 8 new embossing folders (for those of you keeping count that makes 11 I own now LOL). I took pictures of each embossing folder but I decided that was overkill for you all. So here are the names of the folders I bought:

  • Snowflakes
  • Forest Branches
  • Swiss Dots
  • Script
  • Spots and Dots
  • Skeleton Scroll
  • Seeing Spots
  • Clockworks
Did I mention that I am also super excited about my new Copics! I have been busy practicing with them - they truly are fabulous! So now that I have all of my new goodies, I am ready to start creating again and I have lots of things to share with you so please come back this week and check out all of my new creations to share!

Holiday Wrap Up and Exciting News

Wow! What a whirl wind the holidays can be! My home looks like a tornado has passed through followed by a massive hurricane! Slowly I am getting things put back together but I think it may be next Christmas before things are back to normal. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. I am so excited about the new year and I have been feverishly planning all of the things I want to accomplish in 2011. First things first, let's talk presents! I have to share with you a few of my favorite gifts from Christmas.

First I received this awesome book from my husband and children:

I am a total Audrey Hepburn fan so this was a perfect gift. I've already started reading it and if you like history, Audrey Hepburn or the movie "Breakfast at Tiffany's" then I highly suggest you pick it up. It is a fascinating read full of little tidbits I never knew. I love all of the "behind the scenes" information that the author provides.

Second, I got my new Audrey Hepburn Calendar for 2011.

My husband always gets me a new Audrey calendar so while this was not a big surprise gift, it is full of images I haven't seen before and I always love looking at the pictures each month.

This gift came from my sweet little girl (who turned 2 years old at the end of the year - where is the time going?)

She knows mommy is always running out of adhesive and apparently she was tired of always having to run to the craft store with me. I think this is her way of lessening the amount of trips we make!

Last, but very certainly not least, my to-good-to-me-husband bought me a Gypsy to use with my Cricut Expression.

This gift was a total shock! You should have heard me squeal like a school girl when I opened it! This is something that I was content to admire from afar. It seemed like a total indulgence to me and I certainly never would have bought it for myself. Now that I have it I don't know how I lived without it!

So those are a few of my favorite gifts from Christmas. What did you get that you are just bursting to tell me about?

On another note, I am so excited to announce that I have been selected to the MemoryWorks Design Team TeamWorks for 2011!

Each year MemoryWorks accepts applications from consultants who would like to serve on the TeamWorks team and this year they picked me! I will have so many great things to share with all of you and you really will want to check out all of the amazing things that I and the other TeamWorks members post this year on the MemoryWorks blog and the Simple Stories website.

I can't wait to get started on all of my crafting plans for this year! Christmas totally surprised me this year (did anyone else know it was going to be on December 25th? What a shocker!) so I have decided to work on Christmas all year long! So don't be surprised if you see a little something to do with Christmas way early this year!
